GENERAL TSO CHICKEN INGREDIENTS
Below are the ingredients needed to make this General Tso chicken recipe. I like to serve over rice with broccoli and carrots. I also love to add some sesame seeds on top!
GENERAL TSO CHICKEN
- Chicken
- Corn starch
- Kosher salt
- Pepper
- Garlic salt
- Canola oil
- Eggs
GENERAL TSO SAUCE
- Sugar
- Rice vinegar
- Ketchup
- Soy sauce
- Grated ginger
- Sriracha hot sauce
HOW TO MAKE GENERAL TSO CHICKEN

- Preheat oven to 375°F and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil. Set aside.
- Add chicken, corn starch, salt, pepper and garlic salt to a large ziplock bag. Shake until chicken is well coated.
- Heat oil over medium heat in large frying pan. Dip chicken pieces in egg mixture, then add to frying pan using a fork. Fry both sides of chicken for about 2 minutes each, then move chicken to baking sheet.
- Next whisk together all sauce ingredients in a medium size bowl.
- Pour sauce over chicken and bake for 20-25 minutes (stirring halfway through), or until chicken is crispy.
- Serve with steamed rice and vegetables.
Note: If you’d like to skip the frying, you can just bake your General Tso chicken. In order to get it crispy in the oven, you’ll want to broil each side for a couple of minutes. It won’t get quite as crispy as frying, but still delicious and healthier.
